Eagle Flyers Newsletter
April 2012

Thankfully, the Spring and Summer months mean more opportunities to come out to the airport and fly.  With that, we have a few reminders for you:

  • We are missing several Eagle Flyers owned headsets. If you borrowed one and then accidentally put it in your flight bag after your flight - please check and bring it back as soon as possible.  Ensuring headsets don't walk off is just one way you can help keep the costs of flying down for everyone.
  • When flying the Cessna 162 Skycatcher - please make sure you triple check that the "Master" switch is OFF when you are done flying.
  • Make sure you carefully pre-flight for bird's nests in the engine cowling.
  • Hot Starting the Engine - With the advent of warmer weather, starting the Skyhawks if they're already hot is a little more of a problem.  Remember, if the engine is already warm, DO NOT use the fuel pump before starting the engine.  Just start the engine with the mixture in the lean position and the push it to rich as the engine starts.  Using the fuel pump on a hot engine will flood it and result in an engine which does not want to start.
Win Free Flight Time
Congratulations
Jeff Reising

Jeff won this month's drawing for a free hour of flying in either N5217S, N23EF or  N45EF. Don't forget to enter by dropping your name in the drawing after every flight and your free hour must be used within this month.

Don't forget to enter each time you fly!

April 21 - Eagle Flyers Fly-out to Kacy J's in Muncie

Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us this time for yet another attempt at heading up to Muncie's famed airport restaurant - Kacy J's.

As always - we'd like to get rolling from TYQ at 10:00AM - so please meet before then so we can match up rides and people.  If you are going and have extra spots, or need a spot - please contact Pat Gaston and we'll pair you up.

If there is bad weather, come to TYQ anyway, and we'll drive somewhere for lunch and hangar talk.

Date & Time: Saturday, April 21, 2012  | 10:00AM

Location: Indianapolis Executive Airport | 11329 East State Road 32

Email Pat Gaston for more information

Due to other events in May (see below) - we are going to skip May for a formal fly-out and support those other aviation events.  We'll pick back up in June with a trip to French Lick Indiana for a good lunch at either the golf course or West Baden hotel.  Don't miss this one!

Date & Time: Saturday, June 16, 2012  | 10:00AM

Location: Indianapolis Executive Airport | 11329 East State Road 32

Email Pat Gaston for more information

Also, please email Pat Gaston if you would have interest in traveling to the Chanute Air Museum in Rantoul, IL (KTIP) on a Saturday this Spring / Summer.  It's not a long flight and the museum has some great Air Force history there.  Just checking now for interest before setting a date.  We are always looking for ideas of good airport restaurants to head to as well.
